The Executive Director of Ladies Connect Initiative was part of a courtesy visit organized by the International Federation of Women Lawyers Ogun state on the 15th day of July 2020 to the Commissioner of Police Ogun state command at the Police Headquarters, Eleweeran, Abeokuta, Ogun state.
The members were warmly received by the gallant officers and also commended for the active role played in ensuring the dispensation of justice in several gender-based violence cases.
Furthermore, the avenue was seized to express the organization ‘s grievances and challenges faced in the representation of survivors in courts which are largely caused by policemen.
After a wonderful dialogue, there was a proposition to the C.O.P on the need for sensitization of the Police officers in Ogun state on the legal ways and method of handling gender-based violence and rapid measures to ensure that suspects are taken to court as fast as possible for trial.
The session ended with the presentation of law materials on gender-based violence and FIDA face cap to the C.O.P as a symbol of partnership.
